Pat Stoval is the Mexican Coin Broker on eBay.US. His father was recently departed Don Bailey.
I had lunch with Pat yesterday and he confirmed his
opinion --- 2019 BU Onza mintage will remain at 200,000 (although he actually stated 204,000). This is likely due to a combination of new bureaucracy at the mint after the 2018 election and the distraction of minting so many different coins. Assuming he is accurate, that puts 2019 BU Onza mintage at the lowest levels since 2007.
So what is the future value of the 2019 Onza?
A little more than a decade after the Casa de Moneda minted only 200,000 2007 BU Onzas we see raw coins trading as follows:
1] average condition $US40-60
2] really nice raw coins $US60-80
3] high grade MS 69 coins will trade ~$US150
I see ZERO downside in buying 2019 BU Onzas at current pricing ~$US20. In fact, I see a 4x+ return over 10 years if history repeats itself.
As for 2018, I see the same low risk downside with slightly less upside.
One man's opinion!!
